Our US-based BD/Partnership team needs a tenacious, self motivated hunter to join an extremely successful global team, partnering small and mid sized CRO’s. You should have a real drive to succeed, a track record of success and be solution orientated. You also need to be socially adept, good with numbers and be able to provide quality matrix management to a wide range of internal clients.

In this role, your main responsibility will be to: 

  • Identify new sales leads
  • Evaluate the need from our clients for our products and/or services
  • Maintain fruitful relationships with existing customers 

When it comes to generating leads, day-to-day duties typically include:

  • Researching organizations and individuals to identify new leads and potential new markets
  • Researching the needs of companies and clients and learning who the decision makers are
  • Contacting potential clients to establish face to face meetings and build relationships
  • Planning and overseeing new marketing initiatives
  • Attending conferences, meetings, and industry events 

When it comes to the challenge of actually selling, other typical duties include:

  • Preparing PowerPoint presentations and attending bid defenses
  • Contacting clients to inform them about new developments in the company’s products
  • Developing quotes and proposals
  • Negotiating and renegotiating by phone, email, and in person

  • Degree level or similar or appropriate experience.
  • 2 yearsof experience of working in a business development position within the pharmaceutical, health, life science or other related regulated industry.
  • Experience of selling capital equipment and services, pharmaceutical and biotech products, technology and related services or similar. Prior CRO Sales experience is helpful but not required; prior eCOA or Cardiac Safety sales would be very helpful.
  • Experience with long sales cycles requiring a strong close and signed contract process, including multi-party sales scenarios.
  • Familiarity with the pharmaceutical industries and practices.


  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Effective on the telephone and a specialist in cold-calling.
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels especially procurement and legal as well as vendor management.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Ability to cultivate, understand and anticipate the needs of the customer and to provide effective solutions and recommendations.
  • Ability to prioritise and work on own initiative.

  • As required to achieve the goals for the assignment, estimated to be 40% (generally domestic, with occasional overseas travel also required).
