Director, Strategy and Market Research

This leadership role will drive the Market Research function and provide insight to market trends and opportunities that will enable ERT to identify and address current and existing markets. The ideal candidate will direct the organization's strategic planning, growth, and development efforts and oversee the analysis of complex business information and provide recommendations based on results.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Strategy/Market Assessment - Obtain and evaluate information about industry and market trends, competitive threats and possible business opportunities for ERT. Identify markets and services for potential growth.
  2. Competitive Assessment – Investigate competitive positioning, behaviors and market perceptions via primary research and published papers to identify implications and opportunities.
  3. Customer Assessment – Investigate customer dependencies and drug development activity, develop customer segmentations and identify individual customer targets to receive specific ERT marketing outreach.
  4. Brand Benchmark – Conduct brand performance assessment of ERT to identify brand awareness, perception, consideration/preference, intent, use, trust and advocacy per business segment to identify actionable improvement opportunities.
  5. Analyze, present, support and defend research conclusions and implications for strategy development.
  6. Oversee market research team and vendor relationships.
  7. Provide competitive insights, data analysis and process improvement recommendations to drive the strategic direction of the organization 



Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Excellent communication and persuasion skills- able to convincingly sell ideas and plans to internal constituencies, executives, prospects, sales team and analysts.
  2. Self- sufficiency- Identify solutions and strategic direction in spite of high degrees of ambiguity and uncertainty.
  3. Multi-tasking and agility- Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully execute projects under a heavy workload and changing conditions is critical


Qualifications and Skills Needed:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in analytical or insights-focused fields such as economics, marketing, psychology, sociology, statistics, and similar business or liberal arts programs
  2. MBA preferred
  3. 10-12 years of market research experience
  4. 10 years of Customer Segmentation
  5. Clinical development industry experience highly desirable
  6. Ability to present and defend findings to and influence direction of executive management
  7. Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills
  8. Team player
  9. Ability to travel 25%
