    ERT Data Platform

    ERT’s data platform delivers clinical research data from multiple clinical systems of record to consumers across the enterprise and customers as a single source of truth.   The platform is a complete data ecosystem including Master Data Management, Operational Data Store (data hub) and Data Lake.  The architecture is entirely AWS cloud-native, serverless with a distributed, microservice-oriented mindset to enable a highly flexible, scalable, and available data pipeline.  ERT’s ability to deliver holistic, integrated data-at-scale across the clinical research systems landscape creates potential for innovation in business intelligence, data management, and data science across all ERT products to enhance customer value while empowering our customers fully leverage their most important asset,  clinical research data.

     

    We are looking to build out our team with a Site Reliability Engineer who can fill a critical role in collaborating across ERT functional teams to orchestrate the roll-out of new platform releases, understand the platform architecture and component dependencies, maintain the build system to optimize and improve deployment automation, and most importantly, apply analytical skills to dive into code and troubleshoot issues.  This candidate should have a general understanding of AWS managed services, understand CI/CD processes, have great analytical skills, and be a self-starter who takes initiative as needed and works collaboratively in the data engineering team.  This position will report directly to the Director of Data Integration and Services.

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain an understanding of the data platform architecture, distributed components, dependencies and related CI/CD for successful deployment orchestration.

    • General understanding software code for debugging problems reported from internal test teams as well as escalations from advanced technical support teams.

    • Work with data engineering peers to understand technical implementation of existing and new product features.

    • Design usage models and develop methods to verify and monitor deployment health.

    • Deliver release packages to ERT IT with instructions and artifacts needed for successful execution.

    • Provide risk-based analysis on deployment and execution.

    • Work independently and collaborate across ERT functional teams to maintain a high velocity release schedule along with ensuring that internal and external data consumers are not impacted.

    Qualifications

    • Proficiency (2+ years) in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C# or Python.
    • Experience (2+ years) using databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL or Redshift with working SQL knowledge.
    • Experience (2+ years) in CI/CD automation leveraging Jenkins and Git including shell scripting, AWS CLI, Docker, etc.
    • Working knowledge (1+ years) of AWS Managed Services including IAM, CloudFormation, CodeDeploy, Batch, Step Functions, Lambda, Kinesis/Firehose, S3, API Gateway, Elasticsearch and/or RDS.
    • Strong analytics and problem solving capabilities.
    • Ability to adjust to changing priorities.
    • Desire to be a key player on a dynamic, vibrant team that is building some great products for clinical research.
    Education:
    • BS/MS in Computer Science or related field.
