Director, Technical Accounting & Controls

ERT seeks a Director, Technical Accounting and Controls to join our corporate Accounting/Finance team!  This newly created role reports directly to our (global) Corporate Controller and is a great opportunity for you to lead the charge in identifying key controls, establishing accounting standards (and the policy manual) and assist with meeting consolidation and reporting needs.

This role encompasses three main areas:


Internal Controls

  • Responsible for working with the global controllership organization and other functions to establish an internal control program compliant with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Section 404 requirements
  • Provides guidance and oversight in the preparation of internal controls documentation including process narratives, flowcharts and risk and control matrices
  • Supports business process owners in their remediation of identified control deficiencies

Technical accounting / accounting policy

  • Responsible for working with the global controllership organization to establish an accounting policy manual
  • Analyzes the impacts on new accounting standards and leads implementation efforts, including the adoption of ASC 842 lease accounting standard
  • Prepares technical accounting memoranda on significant and non-recurring transactions and liaises with the company’s external auditor to drive timely conclusions
  • Supports acquisition and divestiture transactions, including working with 3rd party specialists on valuation analysis to support purchase price allocations
  • Accounting for debt and equity transactions
  • Leads the annual goodwill impairment test process and interim impairment tests of goodwill and long-lived assets as required

Consolidation and financial reporting

  • Act as lead administrator of the Company’s consolidation software;
  • Ensure accurate consolidation of all subsidiaries’ financial results on a monthly basis;
  • Coordinates with and prepares reports for Global Controller and upper management
  • Record top-side journal entries as required and maintain appropriate supporting documentation;
  • Review supplemental forms, roll-forwards and accounts on a consolidated basis;
  • Provide support for year-end audit functions and support the company’s external auditors 
  • Implement process improvements to streamline the monthly close, reduce cycle time and improve information quality

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP
  • Experience with IFRS is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration / Accounting and CPA required
  • Manager-level experience in public accounting (5-7 years total experience)
  • Experience with multinational companies strongly preferred
  • Experience with OneStream consolidation software is a plus
