Principal Scientific Advisor

ERT is hiring for a Principal Scientific Advisor. As a scientific expert at ERT, the Principal Scientific Advisor provides scientific guidance and analysis to the Sales, Marketing and Client Services functions in a software company that creates electronic data collection systems for clinical trials. Principal Science Advisors are subject matter experts within a particular area, may lead a team of other science advisors. They are responsible for driving the sales and delivery of ERT services with extensive domain knowledge for at least once therapy area and/or clinical trial technology.


  1. Sales support:
  2. Lead the scientific direction for clinical trial services within ERT
  3. Serve as a scientific subject matter expert for at least one target therapeutic area within ERT.
  4. Oversee and manage the process for reviewing study protocols from prospective customers & respond rapidly to meet client timelines
  5. Direct the data collection design strategy for ERT services based on best practices, knowledge of literature, compliance, patient/site preference and applicable regulations
  6. Lead the scientific support and content development for capability and bid defense presentations
  7. Lead the overall strategy for pre-sales customer presentations and development of relevant science content
  8. Client Services support:
  9. Oversee the scientific project handoff from sales to services
  10. Lead the development and delivery of training for Client Services staff regarding diary design, scientific objectives of proposals, best practices, etc
  11. Supervise and manage scientific support for Client Services at selected post sales customer meetings
  12. Marketing support:
  13. Lead the scientific input to product development decisions for ERT services
  14. Develop, produce, and deliver presentations at professional forums, conferences & meetings
  15. Lead the preparation and review of publications, abstracts & white papers
  16. Design and lead scientific projects which are designed to obtain marketing information
  17. Acquire and maintain critical scientific knowledge to support sales and ERT project teams
  18. Lead the strategy to build and maintain a knowledge base regarding regulations or scientific advances that influence ERT’s services to customers, including regulatory guidances, scientific literature, and best practices based on data analysis and/or internal research efforts
  19. Lead the strategy for discussions with other industry scientists to facilitate ERT’s deliverables to clients.
  20. Direct the design of research studies and develop internal research pipeline and external outreach including webinars, abstracts, papers, white papers and related content


Work conditions:

  1. Travel approximately 20% of time

  • PhD preferably with clinical trial experience & multiple years of experience in clinical trial technology or related industry (Minimum 5-7+ years relevant experience). Master’s degree acceptable for highly skilled candidates with exceptional qualifications




  • Established and recognized subject matter expertise within a specific therapeutic area or areas and/or clinical trial technologies
  • Significant industry and market experience in conduct of clinical trials and drug development cycle
  • Experience in the clinical trial technology product life cycle and ERT enterprise technologies and services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of business principles, including budgets, sales metrics/forecasting, and basic financial acumen.
  • Experienced and polished presenter with considerable experience in pre and post-sales environments with clinical trial technology
  • Industry recognized experience as an scientific expert and/or scientific team leader
  • Established knowledge of the full ERT technology portfolio, with ability to represent multiple ERT technologies and services to the clinical trial needs of our clients
  • Highly skilled in delivery of scientific principles for ERT technology and services
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to understand and communicate with representatives from the range of disciplines within biopharmaceutical development
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects, and balance workload and timelines; Able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
