ERT is looking hire a Director, Cloud Services. In this role you will be responsible for the overall planning, implementation, and delivery of all cloud-hosted server and operations/services across the organization for various products and services. Our Cloud-First vision empowers our cloud team to use cutting edge tools to enable success by developing solutions to support our clinical trial business. You will be responsible for strengthening the cloud strategy with the IT Leadership and directing a team of internal resources, vendors, and cloud service providers to design, develop, engineer, implement, and operate systems, data networks, and other critical technology platforms. You will partner with Development, Testing, Quality, and Service Operations teams to deliver ERT solutions on cloud based infrastructure and platform services. Will execute and coach on DevOps processes and procedures.


  • Expertise in cloud computing-based services architecture, technical design and implementations including infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS) and software as a service (SaaS) delivery model.
  • Strategize, plan, and provide oversight for Cloud implementations, migrations, upgrades, and standardization across the ERT environment.
  • Manage end to end lifecycle DevSecOps for cloud-hosted infrastructure and migration of enterprise workload as per the cloud-first vision of the IT organization
  • Lead green-field and legacy clinical SaaS solution implementations in cloud-based staging, UAT and production environments insuring “warm” hand-off into Service Operations.
  • Partner with Customer Care and, clinical study teams and other functional teams across all business lines to provide visibility into operational state and status, including ERT clinical, business and client services availability, performance and capacity/utilization via operational dashboards and consoles.
  • Effectively manage, collaborate and communicate with DevOps cross-functional teams and relevant management to report out service delivery status, new operational requirements and service delivery blockers.
  • Insure ERT systems and process security profiles adhere to cybersecurity and GCP best practices for network, host, applications and access security methodologies
  • Lead, document and implement/instrument for cloud operational readiness, including:
    • Service infrastructure and platform capacity planning requirements
    • Service automated install and configuration
    • Service infrastructure, application and database monitoring KPIs
    • Service SLAs or SLOs
    • Service performance, scalability and reliability KPIs
    • Service monitoring integration with Customer Care ticketing and notification systems
    • Service patching and release requirements
    • Service backup/restore requirements
    • Service disaster recovery requirements
    • Service security
    • Overall ownership and sign-off on operational readiness per SaaS, Business Systems, Operational Support Systems and Client Services Systems.




  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and developing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Responsible for organization development, change management, leadership development, diversity, and the enhancement of performance of the unit.

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
  • AWS/Azure cloud related technical certification desired





  • At least 7+ years’ experience in leading cloud infrastructure teams leveraging hybrid cloud infrastructure operations and services
  • Experience running infrastructure and platform services in a public cloud platform, such as AWS, Azure and understanding of vendor SaaS solutions
  • Have 3-5 years of Cloud run-time management experience, partnered with DevOps, QA and Release management teams in Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery service release pipeline flows
  • At least 5 years’ experience managing technical teams (system, network, and database engineers)
  • Experience with software-defined network, compute and storage platforms
  • Strong networking fundamental knowledge of TCP/IP, VLAN’s, DNS, load balancing and software-defined layer 2/3 rule configurations.
  • Experience with configuration management automation tools. Puppet Manifest, Ruby DSL or Python scripting experience.
  • Have managed an infrastructure and platform services with hundreds or thousands of servers using deployment frameworks such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, other.
  • Ability to understand cloud coding principles and methodology using Python, Ruby, etc. Have leveraged automation to make your job more efficient (Ruby, Python, Java shell and power shell scripting etc.)
  • In-depth understanding of Cloud operations best practices.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Pingdom, Splunk, New Relic, CloudWatch, Librato, DataDog, Graphite, Grafana, etc
  • Solid oral, written communication, and collaboration skills
