This position will be located in Cleveland, Ohio.


The Software Quality Engineer will work in an Agile research and development (R&D) environment, supported by a DevOps culture, testing ERT’s new best-in-class Imaging Management Solution (IMS). As an experienced and self-motivated engineer, the candidate will be responsible for understanding the functional and technical requirements of the applications and services provided by the IMS Platform, and using modern and innovative testing strategies and tools to ensure that ERT’s industry-leading imaging products & services are developed, tested and release on-budget, on-time, and on-quality.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the engineering of software quality for an enterprise-level product development team, with core focus on software verification (SV) testing execution.
  • Periodically serve as a test designer and contributor to software quality in the context of a fast-paced, Agile development and DevOps culture and processes.
  • Make decisions regarding approaches to problems and work methods required. 
  • Review product requirement documents, Engineering Functional Specifications, and other software related specifications, and define, execute and manage software testing strategy part of regular software development and release planning cycle. This will require close collaboration with members of the ERT development, quality, IT, acceptance validation (AV), and product management teams.
  • Work with the software engineering team to resolve issues arising in the software verification and testing process
  • Develop and maintain innovative, repeatable QA test plans based on functional requirements, use cases, user interface designs, system design documents, and domain knowledge
  • Work with QA team members, software developers, software architects, and system and database administrators to trouble-shoot test failures in the various test environments. This may include trouble-shooting database issues using SQL queries, reviewing web server and application server logs, etc.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (engineering or software-related field preferred)
  • At least 3 years of experience in enterprise (IT), medical, and/or clinical research software testing (regulated life science-related field preferred)
  • Familiarity with both manual and automated testing processes, software and tools
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment
  • Experience and familiarity with application lifecycle management (ALM) tools (Polarion preferred)
  • Experience working within a software DevOps culture and utilizing DevOps tools
  • Effective communication skills; written and oral in English and working and collaborating with cross-functional teams (e.g., development, quality, IT, product management, etc.)
  • Demonstrated creative thinking and proactive leadership for continuous improvement of software testing processes and tools to accelerate overall development life cycle.
